Outlaws Suffer First Defeat of Season

springfield, il  - The Capital City Outlaws eight-man football team suffered it's first loss of the season Sunday afternoon, losing to the Macomb XBombers 24-20 in Macomb, IL.

The game was a re-match of last year’s 8FL championship game. The Outlaws offense scored four touchdowns in the losing effort,  capitalizing on the efforts of quarterback Dan Eck who went 8 for 16 passing for 87 yards, throwing 1 touchdown pass.

On defense, Linebacker Troy Helton had an interception returned back 38 yards for a touchdown. Linebacker Jerry Miller stood out with 6 tackles and 3 sacks. But in the end, it wasn’t enough to hold the XBombers.

“We went into half-time up by a point. The second half was truly anyone’s game” said Outlaws coach Chris Lawson. “Unfortunately, all the breaks fell Macomb’s way. We look forward to a re-match on our own turf on May 8th.”

The Capital City Outlaws is a semi-professional football team with several Springfield area players. Their next game is March 26th against the Pekin Dominators at Rotary Park in Springfield.
