Outlaws continue undefeated
springfield, il - The Capital City Outlaws eight-man football team won it’s second game of the season Sunday afternoon, defeating the Tazwell Tigers 18-8 at Rotary Park in Springfield.
Troy Helton led the dominating defense, snagging 3 interceptions while Mike Daily had four sacks. Helton also had 12 tackles and 4 assists.
While the Outlaws Defense stifled the Tigers Offense, Outlaws Quarterback Dan Eck led the offense going 5 for 12 for 86 yards and throwing for 2 touchdowns. Steve Fristoe scored two of those touchdowns including an 18 yard sweep for 6 points.
“This was an extremely physical game” said Outlaws coach Chris Lawson. “We had a few dropped balls that would have been touchdowns, but that comes with playing in windy conditions. We have a lot of offensive threats, and it’s only a matter of time before we are hitting on all cylinders.”
The Capital City Outlaws is a semi-professional football team with several Springfield area players. Their next game is March 13th at home against Farmington at Rotary Park at 3 p.m.
