Outlaws Smash Tazewell Tigers

springfield, il  - The Capital City Outlaws(7-1) eight-man football team won Sunday afternoon, beating the Tazewell Tigers (2-6) 49-13 in Washington, IL.

 The game was close through the first half, with the Outlaws ahead 18-6 at the break. But the Outlaws scored 31 points in the second half to solidify the lead and take home a win.

 Outlaws Quarterback Dan Eck, coming off a strong performance against the Jacksonville Sharks, threw 4 touchdown passes and no interceptions. Running Back George Wilson had a stellar game rushing 176 yards on 12 carries and scoring 3 touchdowns. Wide Receiver Steve Fristoe had 5 receptions for 78 yards and 3 touchdowns. Tight End Aubrey Collins had 4 catches for 56 yards and 2 offensive touchdowns. Collins also has an interception on defense he ran back for a touchdown.

 The Outlaws Defense held the Tigers to just 2 scores all day. Cornerback Aubrey Collins had an interception he returned for a touchdown and linebacker Troy Helton had 16 tackles. Defensive End Lex Woolford contributed 4 sacks and Richard Reed, Cody Younker and Morris Williams each had 2 sacks.

 “Our players were extremely responsive today.” said Outlaws coach Chris Lawson. “Their performance today was a testimony to the skill these players bring to each game on both sides of the ball.”

The Capital City Outlaws is a semi-professional football team with several Springfield area players. Their next game is May 1st against the Farmington Renegades at Farmington.
