Outlaws Defeat Jacksonville Sharks In Blow Out

springfield, il  - The Capital City Outlaws(6-1) eight-man football team won Sunday afternoon, beating the Jacksonville Sharks(0-7) 64-12 in Jacksonville.

 The outcome of the game was pretty clear at the end of the first half, with the Outlaws holding a commanding 52-6 lead. It was the highest scoring output for the Outlaws in 2 years.

 Outlaws Quarterback Dane Eck, coming off a strong performance in the Casino Bowl in Las Vegas, had his best passing performance of the year going 9 for 12 passing for 236 yards and throwing 7 touchdowns. Receiver Steve Fristoe also had a breakout game, scoring 4 touchdowns and running back Aubrey Collins had 9 rushes for 126 yards and 2 touchdowns.

 The Outlaws Defense held Jacksonville to negative 18 yards total offense. Lineman Tony Blisset had an interception he returned for a touchdown and linebacker Troy Helton had 16 tackles and 1 sack. Defensive End Lex Woolford contributed 4 sacks and defensive back Dave Hall had an interception.

 “Our players dominated the game today.” said Outlaws coach Chris Lawson. “The Outlaws played mistake-free football. It was exactly what we needed at mid-season to ramp up for a playoff run.”

 The Capital City Outlaws is a semi-professional football team with several Springfield area players. Their next game is April 24th against the Tazewell Tigers at Tazewell. The Outlaws are off next week.
